I guess we could say I had a bad day.

Nothing special happened to me, I’m still healthy and happy.

But after I’ve spent the whole month of October (+ a bit of November) creating 160 slides that were analyzing the data of Adidas and its competitors, I was asked to change something.

Actually, everything.

In mid-november, the company adopted some new templates for its intra-company presentations.

By template, I don’t mean the background of a slide.

I mean literally every element on a slide has a certain format.

From the title to the table, or even the bullet points.

Obviously, since most o my slides were created in October, I used the same ways to create tables and graphs all along.

Guess what? It has nothing to do with the new one 😅

I tried to change everything at once, but obviously it didn’t work. All the colors etc… can’t match. That’s 100% logic but I had to try huh.

For the titles, what I had written as 1 line, has to become two lines with different formats (the bold black has to become red and the red has to become normal black but in different font — that is not recognized by PPT but that’s another debate).

For the tables, everything is different, even the color of the lines between cells.

In other words, I have to manually change every single item on every single slide.

That’s why I had a bad day.

But I guess tomorrow will be better.

I don’t want to spend more than 1 day on the format of slides that have the exact same content and the exact same conclusions. So, I’ll just plug my earphones, listen to some french rap (or language podcast) and stupidly copy paste 160 slides of data into tables that match the November 2018 format. No matter how long it takes.

Hopefully they won’t change it again in December.

Notes to myself: Baptiste, if you ever create a company someday, it’s very good to have templates for intra-company presentation. The society is about marketing ; and appearance matters a lot. It helps to convey meaning.

But don’t pay someone to be copy pasting data. At the end of the day, content is the most important. Not the size of bullet points or the color of the first row in the table.

You on November 27th, 2018.

Thanks so much for reading. If you’re wondering why I’m doing this daily podcast/medium post, you can find the answer right there. Oh, and if you’re interested in following my adventures, day 64 is already out!

If you liked the post or if it helped you in some ways, that would mean the world to me if you could give it a 👏 to help others find it (you can actually give it up to 50 👏 by long-pressing the button).
